Wedding Emcee

On the 17 March I had the absolute pleasure of not just being the Magician but being the Wedding Emcee and host for the wedding of Ryan and Emily, the new Mr & Mrs Boyns. I have to say what a truly magical day, a beautiful venue at The Cherry Barn. Peasmarsh, Rye.

I had at least 3 zoom meetings with the couple to be in the lead up to their big day, providing them a detailed run sheet to aid in the planning of the day. For this wedding the Mother of the Bride was heavily involved in the planning, and as an ex wedding planner she was certainly well organised and meticulous. If only everyone had the attention to detail that Peggy had.

The venue is a wonderful place, and the owners are really nice people, I was taken back when I arrived and saw how stunning the place looked.

Being a Wedding Emcee, combines the duties of a Toastmaster and a magician but with a modern twist, I’m there from the very beginning of the day until late, in this case until after the first dance. The couple entered the Wedding Breakfast to music of their choosing – Kanye West All of the lights was the chosen song for this wedding and was a great upbeat track for them to make their big entrance.

Close-Up Magic was provided throughout the day when I was not making announcements, checking that everything was where it was meant to be when it was meant to be, including guests and staff. Before the speeches to warm everyone up I performed a 20 min cabaret set with some magic and mentalism involved, this set the tone for some wonderful and heartfelt speeches including a few tears. It was then back to some more Close-Up magic and checking things were set for the evening ahead. Slight delays to the running time were made to ensure that the band could be set up before the cutting of the cake and the first dances.

A very long but incredibly rewarding day and I always love doing the Emcee packages, from getting to know the couples before the day to hosting the day it’s an absolute pleasure.
